
What is the Telehealthcare Training Tool?
A web-based, password protected, flexible and practical learning experience that guides you through a number of assessment scenarios based on 4 differing levels of unmet need and risks to independence. The result being that, through role play and virtual simulation of real life examples, you will gain the knowledge, experience and confidence to prescribe a range of telecare sensors which will enable the client to remain living independently within their own home.

Who is it for?
- Anyone who can refer into a telecare scheme
- Anyone entitled to perform an assessment
- Anyone able to perform a specialist telecare and assistive technology assessment
These audiences will include (but is not limited to) anyone who works in the community and comes into contact with potential users of telecare – occupational therapists, district nurses, community nurses, social workers, telecare project officers, housing officers, health visitors, home care assessors, care management teams, community matrons, falls service coordinators, ambulance workers, wardens/scheme managers, control centre operators/responders/installers.
Why is it important to me?
The TTT aims to provide you with a comprehensive learning experience that will enable you to
- have an overarching understanding of telecare
- acquire the necessary skills to use telecare as part of a comprehensive assessment
- walk away with the confidence and competence to carry out telecare assessments
- identify and recommend the appropriate package of telecare sensors that manage risks and overcome physical, sensory or cognitive difficulties
The TTT will be particularly useful on occasions where you:
- cannot identify a suitable course
- don’t have time or the funds to attend a course
- have an immediate learning need
- need a flexible learning programme, allowing training at your own pace and in your own time
- need constructive use of CPD time, with evidence and certification
- require a combination of practical and theoretical learning styles
Scope – what equipment does it cover?
The TTT covers all products relating to the telecare definition of
“The continuous, automatic and remote monitoring of real time emergencies and lifestyle changes over time in order to manage the risks associated with living independently”
It does not include aids and adaptations, electronic assistive technology, medical telecare or environmental control systems.
